BENCHMARKING VISIT TO ZIMBABWE

The Compensation Committee (COCO) of the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) led by the Chairperson Mr Anthony Dumingu was on a benchmarking visit of Zimbabwe’s National Social Security Authority (NSSA) in Bulawayo. The COCO delegation comprised of Ms Catherine Kantumoya, Mr Leonard Fungulwa and Mr Jethro Kasanda. The WCFCB team includes the Director Legal Services, Manager Branch Operations -North, Manager Benefits and Manager Strategy and Business Development.The benchmarking visit marks a significant step in advancing social security and workers compensation frameworks for both institutions. The goal was to create robust systems that will effectively administer social protection for workers in both countries. In the next two days before the field visits, the two institutions will delve into critical discussions at Rainbow Hotel, Bulawayo. The discussions focused on compensation, rehabilitation services, accident prevention and fund sustainability. The biggest highlight of the tour would be a visit to the NSSA Rehabilitation Centre established in 1971, and arguably one of best in Africa as far as provision of clinical rehabilitation services are concerned.
